Flower class colors my world.

For the past 3 or 4 class sessions , my floral design class has been studying color. Keep in mind this class is offered for high school kids, a volitional class, a way to make sure they have enough credits to graduate. So the color lessons are basic, but hey, I need basic.

We have been making color books. In those books  we make the color wheel, examples and definitions of cool colors and warm colors. all colors mixed, by us , form the primary colors....do you remember those?

Yep, red, blue and yellow. We mix these three for all other colors...well, tried too.

Here is my color wheel. I was happy with my mixing from yellow to violet ( there is no color called purple , it is violet, if we say purple in class we get in trouble) then it went down hill....

We are suppose to be creative with our pages...the high-school kids just took off, making really cute hearts, flowers, fruit...the adults sat looking at each other...what? ~ paint? ~ make it cute?....

I was thinking , well I can't just make color blocks like my primary page....ummmm ,ok, how about this...

Block's showing tints, tones and shades...make it look like a kitty walked in the wet paint and made the tints in shads...but still got that block thing going on....try again.

Cool colors...only one block this time...got some wavy lines going, added a penguin ..see...

Ha! No blocks for the warm colors...

Kitty face for the neutrals, white, black and gray...

I have a few pages left to finish tonight.
I may be back to blocks....

  1. Hank sneaked into the assignment anyway. If he can't eat it, he might as well be part of it.

  2. Don't go back to blocks! You are doing awesome with the fire and the cat...keep the creativity flowing :)

    P.S. Love the penguin!
