Rabbit toddler-hood lesson #2 : Learning to Share.

Sitting in one bowl of food and eating out of the second is not sharing. Mom came along and sort of nosed this little guy out of the bowl. Usually mom will not move the babies away from the food. She sits back and waits until they are done eating, then she will eat, so I wondered what was up. She didn't eat, she moved out of the way so the more timid of the three could get some food. The little guy still didn't seem interested , so I went and got some hay for him and he dug right in.
Azula is such a good Mom.

No Matter how old I get, I am still two years old inside.

Do you all remember the mix media class I was all disappointed in? Well, I looked on my calender and low and behold I have to miss it this coming Monday. I am sad...I want to go to it now!

Bunny toddler-hood. Eating out of the box.

Learning how to eat solid food.

So cute! Round like little tennis balls...just about the same size too!

Opi, one miffed bunny.

Well, Mister congeniality, Opi Won Conejo, Opi for short, had to go to the veterinarian earlier this week. We noticed what we thought was an abscess on his left foreleg. So I put him in a carry cage...

and off we went to the vet's office.

That is the equine vet in the white truck, going out on a call. I took my 4-H kids on a tour of this veterinarian hospital a few years ago and we got to see the equine vets truck. It is packed with every thing they should need for a barn call.

Notice the elephant and ostrich on the sign?  Jungleland was located near here. Jungleland started as a place for a fellow to keep his lions and grew into quite an attraction. Some of the residences of Jungleland were animal stars in Hollywood, including Leo the lion ,that lion in the MGM logo, remember?  Some movies such as Tarzan, with Johnny Weissmuller, were filmed in Jungleland.  To see photos and learn about Jungleland, click here .

cute critter topiary bushes outside the front door of the Veterinarian Hospital.

Poor Old Opi waiting, thinking if he puts his head down, they might forget he is here.

Thinking about making a break for it. It turned out he has what the vet thinks was a warble. It is pretty gross...so don't click on the next link if you have a weak stomach...click here to learn more about warbles.

Opi had to have the lump removed . He was sent home with a pink badge covered in purple smiley faces...if it is to improve his mood, it isn't working...he won't look at me. The bandage goes quit a ways up his leg, but I didn't think he would appreciate me trying to get a better shot. He thought the pink bandage was enough of an indignation, not to mention the possibility of  a "cone of shame" if he chews on said pink bandage. Poor bunny.

Spring is on it's way.

I do miss the change in seasons here in Southern California. We have season change, but it is such a slight shift and short lived, it would be easy to miss. On my walk today I saw the signs that spring is on it's way.  Birds flying with nest improvement materials in their beaks. My Little cannon power shot isn't fast enough to capture them. Things have to be pretty much sitting still for me to be able to snap their photo.

It is overcast and gray today with rain in the forecast.

It did sprinkle a bit on my walk. I heard it first , hitting the leaves, I love that sound. Remember the song form the Disney movie Bambie? Drip, drip, drop, little April showers... I loved that song, I guess I still do.

The willows are starting to leaf out.

Willow seeds, should start flying soon, bothering my friends with allergies. Some of the smaller birds were grabbing beaks full of this stuff for their nest.

Great Horned Owl...nope just a bend in the oak tree branch. Nearly dropped my camera, then figured out, oh, another one of Jenean's hidden pictures.

It was a pretty good walk in the park this morning.

Hidden Pictures...or, stuff that makes me think of other stuff.

See, Grandmother Willow, warped in her shawl, has come out of her lodge made of sun bleached branches to stand on the creek bank.

Asparagus Tree.

A Personal Work of Art, by any other name, is a Collage.

So this is my first personal work of, uh, art.  I was really looking forward to this class and have to say, I am disappointed.

This is supposed to be my life journey, from past to present and where I want it to end up. It is to be my muse.

I am trying to remain hopeful. A couple of the listings on the syllabus look interesting, such as making an altered book.Though having spent so much time in the world of animal husbandry, I wounder about that word altered. A some projects look dicey, like making a personal shrine.

Let me ease your mind, I know you are wondering, the community education center has a  no refund policy. Its a gamble to sign up for a class there. I have taken 5 classes there, 3 of which were excellent. 1 not and this one...I'll wait to make a final judgment.

At 52, I have come to understand I will learn something I can use from this class. I may be pleasantly surprised as the class goes along. I will try to keep an open mind.

Anyway, going to add a few more do dads to this, uh, piece, out of my vast junk supplies and hang it on the wall next to the reindeer and Christmas tree the kids made with felt tipped markers and sequins for me when they were 10 and 7, should fit right in.

No,I like their work better.
